Preparations
Chá de Bugre is taken in the form of a tincture, infusion (tea), and in capsules. Traditionally prepared in Brazil as a tea, the leaves are a natural source of caffeine taken at a suggested dosage of 1 cup 2 to 3 times daily, 30 minutes before meals.
To prepare the tea, place 1 tsp. of the powdered leaves in a tea ball or gauze bag and allow the powder to steep in 8 oz. of freshly boiled hot water in a covered ceramic pot for 10–15 minutes. Pour the infusion through a fine strainer to remove any sediment and allow it to cool for a time before drinking. Refrigerate unused portions in a well sealed container.
